A Quest to make Everlasting Changes
The thirteenth day of the campaign started with Thadikal Village, Shankarapatnam Mandal in Karimnagar district. Shravya met women farmers and enquired about the kind of support they were expecting. The women expressed their pain about no proper wages and not being sanctioned with any loans, irrespective of the amount of work they do and number of times they ask. Amidst the discussion they were kind to let Shravya sow some seeds and plants on their field.
The next destination was Choppadandi mandal to meet beedi workers. Due to their profession, they’re facing many severe problems, viz.,breathing problems, neck, spinal and waist pain, due to which majority of their salary goes in spending on just medicines. They genuinely requested for a health Bima scheme since they work in such a hazardous environment. Keeping this in view, Shravya suggested that they could set up a small factory to make papad or biscuits and their response was very positive to the idea.
From there Shravya went to Desaipet village of the same mandal. The major occupation and problems were same as the previous village. Shravya then said that on behalf of “We and She” she would try to help them in whatever possible way she can and that she believes that the government has to intervene and take some measures to address these issues.
